WHERE IS THE MONEY IN MY WEBSITE CONTENT?

How to monetize your website content

With writing each post we usually target specific keywords. This can be done unintentionally or intentionally. And this is something you will also be doing with your website content.

There are longer and shorter keywords and they represent the terms or phrases people type in search engines.

For example these keywords can be like: “Best ways to lose belly fat”or “How to be more productive”. In most cases it is some information or answer that people seek.

This is how you will get your audience to connect with you. You will provide them with your opinions, reviews, answers or some sort of solutions.

After picking good keyword – it is up to you to create good content that will move them to do some sort of action you want them to do.

ATTRACTING TRAFFIC WITH GOOD KEYWORDS

You could say that keywords are good first step in the process of online marketing and online sales. It is what brings people to your website.

We have made a great post about keywordsDo check it out to better understand keywords.

So, by using a good keyword you will get nice amounts of web traffic and you will be able to avoid the competition (websites that already targeted the same keyword).

And more traffic means more possible sales. So, how to find good keywords? From my experience you need only two things:

1.) Basic keyword knowledge (check our post.)

2.) Good keyword tool (I recommend Jaaxy Keyword Tool.)

How to monetize your website content

In the beginning of your new online business it is essential that you pick low competition keywords. We call it the “low hanging fruit“.

What this basically means is that by picking those keywords you are guaranteed to get some traffic to your website because your competition will be low.

You would agree that it is better to have some traffic than none. Many new to blogging decide to target high traffic but also highly competitive keywords. And you know what happens?

They left unseen. They get no traffic. Check our Jaaxy Keyword Tool Review and learn how to properly pick keywords that will make you reach people. That is what will really get you the results.

WHAT TO SELL ON MY WEBSITE?

So, now you picked a good keyword, you got some people to your website and it’s time to make sales. But what to sell? What to promote?

This is where affiliate marketing will come in handy. Depending on your website niche, you will search and find the products that will fit your website.

For example if your website is about bodybuilding you should find companies that sale products for building muscles or simlair and become their affiliate. The easiest way to do so is to type product name + affiliate program in search engines.

In your blog posts you will review products or you will just simply advise people to buy them.

How to monetize your website content

Online market is really big and most companies use this to their advantage. We already talked about this. For every sale that is made through your affiliate link you get a commission.

So, you see where we are heading?

Good keyword + Good headline + Good post = SALE

HOW TO CONVINCE PEOPLE TO CLICK ON YOUR AFFILIATE LINK?

How to monetize your website content

Through your content of course. That is the only way really. To make people stay engaged with your post and eventually make an action your content must have these 3 key parts:

  • Intent
  • Personality
  • Good visuals

If you ever stumbled upon posts like on Backlinko.com, Neil Patel.com or HubSpot.com you can see how you will get involved in the story really fast and you will want to read more and more. That is the effect you also want to create with your posts.

So how do they do it?

Well, for starters, each piece of their content has INTENT. Intent is something you put into your content to let your visitors know what to expect from your post.

In other words, you are leading them from sentence to sentence and making them want to be involved even more.

Another thing they do in their posts is that they try to make it really personal. Reading blog posts should be fun activity and not an encyclopedia article.

How to monetize your website content

When reading their blog posts you have a feeling like a real person wrote it and that this person is addressing directly to you with authority and knowledge.

This part is so important. Being clear in your intentions but also being personal enough creates good vibe between you and the reader.

So we talked about content with intent, authority and personality. All of them are really important. However, organizing visual aspect of your posts is also an important factor if you want to make more people read your content.

VISUALLY APPEALING BLOG POSTS

What we said earlier, you could have the most interesting article but if you decided to create one big block of words – chances are it won’t get read in best case.

In the worst case your visitors will probably hop off to the next article before even giving yours a chance.

Why is that? Well, mostly because people attention span is not so big nowadays, and you have to make your article easy to digest.

What I mean by this is that your articles should have a lot of paragraphs. Me personally, I like to have 3-4 sentences before hitting a paragraph. What this does is that it helps your content look much more appealing and light.

How to monetize your website content

Insert images into your posts. Make sure that you have at least 4 images in your every blog post.

It would be great if you could have more of course and especially if your images can actually further help with the topic you are talking about.

It is far better to show a person something on a picture than explain him what you meant in 500 words.

So, do not forget images cause they really bump up the number of visitors that will stay on your website.

  6. Very helpful post Strahinja, and I see you talk about making your posts visually appealing. That you have done with all the wonderful images.

I just have a question for you. If you want to put Adsense on your blog, and you are not allowed to ask people to click on the ads, how would you monetize those?  Is it right to say that you would just write relevant content according to your keyword and make sure that you are helping the person who asked the question?

    1. Dear Michel,

      Thank you for your comment.

Having Adsense on your blog is really useful because you will earn if people click the on the adds that Google randomly put there. However, getting accepted for Google Adsense is not easy and in most cases, usually takes at least a year.

After that, when you prove your website with content and quality – you will receive more trust and you will start to earn from Google AdSense.

As for the other question, you definitely can create your articles and blogposts around keywords. I do it regularly.

Thank you for reading my blog post.

  7. Fantastic article. Many website owners and bloggers need to read this. It took me some time to figure it all out but today due to everything you’ve talked about I have many articles ranking page 1 position 1 on google. You shared about low hanging fruit for keywords and that alone is gold and what will get you ranked above your competition. I have a tattoo website and images as you talked about are key, and that’s on any website without images people feel like they’re reading a term paper and lose attention and leave. Everything you wrote about is fact and if people follow your suggestions they’ll be ranking and making money in no time.

                                                                                            Thank you,

                                                                                                        David

    1. Dear David,

Thank you for your comment. I am really glad you found my post helpful.

I am also glad to hear you are doing great. Low hanging fruit for keywords does all the magic, doesn’t it?

      Thank you.

  8. Good afternoon Strahinja,

With your article you included some really good tips on how to write a good post. A post that will attrack visitors and then stay reading it.

Of course Keyword is king. It has to make your visitor curious about what is to be read in the article and on the other side it is important for the search machines.

A post has to be entertaining, not dry and boring. That is a good advice to include some relevant pictures, at least 4 as that makes the reading more pleasant. The modern human has become a lot more visual and as you say a picture is more worth than 500 words. If possible I try to find some private photos to give it the special touch.

One should try to write a post which is like sticky honey, it is sweet and the people stay.

    Regards, Taetske

    1. Hello Taetske and thank you for your comment.

I am really glad if my post helped you in any way. These are some really important aspects I was taught and learned during my online entrepreneur career.

      Best regards,

      Strahinja

  9. Excellent article with some great tips! It has been a struggle for me over the years to write more engaging content. The kindest criticism I have received is when a reader called my blog writing style pedantic. I have received much worse.

So I work on my writing style and have taken several copywriting courses. Plus I read a lot and practice.

  10. I used to think it is better to target high competitive keywords. Hmm….your article is an eye opener. If there is any word to take from this article for me, it is INTENT. I should be able to make my article real and engaging for my ready so that they want to continue and get to the end or take action. Prior to reading your article, I just write based on my feelings. With what I’ve learned here, I think it should be based on the reader’s feelings. Hmm.

I’m going to try out the tips you have suggested here and I know I will begin to make sales with Affiliate Marketing. Thank you so much for sharing.

  11. Since I want to attract people to my website and create or increase on my sales I have loved your content because I have got some tips from it for example to pick or select good keywords so as to help me create good content that will attract people to take action. Thanks very much for this information I have enjoyed reading

  12. This topic is very helpful to start the website from the scratch properly and efficiently. I never new about my personal experience about the content. I always type the contents like adding some informations but adding my personal thoughts or experience I think it will make it more interesting. Also adding more paragraphs also is very good idea since people does not have time to read one big block of words. The only thing that I have tried but does not work for all my contents is the low hanging fruit keyword… maybe I’m not using it properly and you did’t talk much about it.
